In Mehsana, Gujarat, India’s first rural drone expo showcased agricultural drones designed for pesticide spraying, crop monitoring, and soil mapping. Organized by the state agriculture department and IIT Gandhinagar, the event brought together 30 agri-tech startups and 5,000 farmers. Demonstrations showed how drones can reduce pesticide use by 40% and survey large plots in minutes. Farmers also learned about leasing drones through cooperatives and government subsidies. Many rural youth expressed interest in drone operation as a career. Gujarat plans to set up training centers and drone rental banks across talukas to support smart farming adoption.
